Health officers raid food joints on Pakhowal road, collect samples
Ludhiana: The district health officers raided the restaurants and coffee shops on Pakhowal road on Wednesday and collected food samples.
The officials collected 15 samples of food namely paneer, red and green chutney, soda, coke, beer, coffee, curd, jaljeera, red chilli powder, namkeen and biscuits. The health officials collected the samples of paneer from different shops.

Apart from on Pakhowal road, raids were also conducted on some shops in Karimpura and Field Ganj.
Dr Andhesh Kang, District Health officer (DHO) said, “We had received written complaints about the quality of food at a few coffee shops on Pakhowal road. Following the complaint of the residents, we have collected the samples to get them tested. We have collected samples from the restaurants as well.”
Kang further added, “These days many people visit coffee shops and restaurants. The youngsters come to these places and therefore it is important to serve quality food.”
The DHO also informed that since the weather is changing, it’s important to do quality check of the food.
Civil surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said, “The residents should register more complaints about such places. It’s important to serve quality food.” None of the products have been seized on Wednesday.
